About us

To enhance and strengthen the institutional capacity of the local government system in Kerala to deliver services and undertake basic administrative and governance functions more effectively and in a sustainable manner, the Government of Kerala has formulated Kerala Local Government Service Delivery Project

The Project will benefit all the 978 Grama Panchayats (GPs) and 60 Municipalities in the State. Investments made by the GPs and Municipalities will indirectly benefit the entire population of the State outside the five City Corporation areas. The estimated cost of the Project is Rs 1195.8 crore

Rapid Impact Assessment "Discussion & Field visit - Koottikkal Grama Panchayat, Kottayam District"




Project Name: Public toilet construction in waiting shed (Gender equality projects) @ Rs. 1,51,647

The bathroom attached waiting shed project in the crowded area of Kootkkal grama panchayt is very useful for both men and women especially to the vulnerable population

Specific VGDF-related points

Ø  Common toilets are unavoidable factors of each city/junction/crowded area. Usually women’s may not get the toilet facility in crowded area.  So, this project helps to strengthen the gender equality in that area by giving equal consideration for both men and women.

Ø  Waiting shed with Gents compartment and ladies compartment

Ø  Attached bathroom in the waiting shed

Ø  Panchayath allotted persons are responsible for cleaning the bathrooms. They are monitored by the gramapanchayt officials&members

Ø  70-80 people getting daily benefits from the projects
